About ICLEE Conferene
The International Consortium of Landscape and Ecological Engineering (ICLEE) was established in 2004 through collaboration among professional societies in Japan (Ecology and Civil Engineering Society, Japan Association for Landscape Ecology, Japanese Society of Revegetation Technology), Korea (Korea Institute of Landscape Architecture, Korean Society of Environmental Restoration Technology), and Taiwan (Chinese Taiwan Landscape Architect Society). The primary mission of ICLEE is to promote environmental conservation and ecological restoration in East Asia through academic exchange, knowledge transfer, and policy dialogue, thereby creating a transnational platform for collaboration.
Since 2005, ICLEE has published the international journal Landscape and Ecological Engineering (LEE), dedicated to addressing biodiversity loss, desertification, global warming, and other major environmental challenges. The journal covers research articles, reviews, and technical notes on conservation, restoration, and management of ecosystems, with a focus on integrating scientific, technological, and design approaches. LEE has been indexed in SCI-E since 2010, and has expanded its global visibility as a quarterly online journal since 2018.
ICLEE conferences are hosted annually on a rotational basis among Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Each conference provides a platform for sharing cutting-edge research, practical applications, and collaborative strategies. Previous themes have included Green Infrastructure (2017), A Promising Future for Rural Areas (2018), Resilient City Responding to Changing Environment (2019), Health, It Matters: Responsible Mission for ICLEE (2021), Nature-based Solutions for Creating Sustainable Landscapes (2022), and Progress in Landscape and Ecological Engineering — Perspectives of the Next 20 Years of ICLEE (2023).
The ICLEE International Conference will be hosted in Taiwan, jointly organized by the Chinese Landscape Architects Society in Taiwan, National Taiwan University, and ICLEE, with support from partner universities and associations. The theme, “Adaptive Green Networks: Nature-Based Restoration for Resilient Landscapes”, emphasizes the integration of nature-based solutions (NBS) into ecological engineering, landscape planning, climate adaptation, and biodiversity enhancement, aiming to strengthen socio-ecological resilience and address global sustainability challenges.

ICLEE President's Message
I am truly delighted that the ICLEE Conference will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, a city known for its warm hospitality, beautiful landscapes, and excellent cuisine.
The main theme of the conference is “Adaptive Green Networks: Nature-Based Restoration for Resilient Landscapes.” At a time when we are confronted with global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss, efforts to achieve harmony between the environment and society are becoming increasingly important. In addressing these challenges, the exchange of knowledge and collaboration across disciplines and sectors is essential, and I sincerely hope that this conference will serve as a fruitful platform for such engagement.
In recent years, concepts such as nature-based solutions and nature-positive approaches have gained increasing attention, highlighting the need to build sustainable societies by harnessing the power of nature. I hope that active discussions and exchanges of ideas at this conference will lead to the creation of new knowledge and practices, contributing broadly to future research, policy, and on-the-ground implementation.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have worked hard to organize this conference. I warmly invite you to join us in Taipei and look forward to welcoming participants from Taiwan, Korea, and Japan. Sincerely, Mahito Kamada, the ICLEE President
Sincerely,
Mahito Kamada, ICLEE PRESIDENT
CTLAS President's Message
On behalf of the Chinese Taiwan Landscape Architect Society (CTLAS), it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Taipei for ICLEE 2026.
ICLEE has long served as an important platform for interdisciplinary exchange among scholars and professionals in landscape architecture, ecology, engineering, planning, and related environmental fields, helping to advance environmental conservation and restoration. As environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and land degradation continue to affect our societies and ecosystems, the importance of collaboration across disciplines and countries becomes increasingly evident. Addressing these challenges requires not only scientific research and engineering innovation, but also integrated planning, design, and management approaches that connect environment and society.
The theme of this conference, “Adaptive Green Networks: Nature-Based Restoration for Resilient Landscapes,” highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in developing practical and sustainable solutions. We hope this conference will provide a valuable opportunity for academic exchange, knowledge sharing, and the development of new ideas and collaborative research.
We sincerely hope that this conference will inspire new insights and foster future collaborations. We also hope you will enjoy your time in Taipei and experience the city’s unique landscapes and culture. We look forward to welcoming you to ICLEE 2026.
Sincerely,
Bau-Show Lin President, Chinese Taiwan Landscape Architect Society (CTLAS)
